Nonlocal Radio is an artistic research platform and audio environment dedicated to collective listening and co-creation. While the term radio appears in its name, it functions neither as a traditional station nor as a traditional broadcast service. Rather, it is a shared field of resonance for an open group of participating artists engaged in ongoing experimental exchange.

Unlike conventional radio, nonlocal Radio has no audience in the usual sense, and no inherent distinction between content creators and listeners. Every participant is both. Thus, the platform is not designed to reach a generalized public, but to serve as a distributed space of reflection and process among existing and potential collaborators.

Nonlocal Radio is non-commercial, as well as free of advertising, external sponsorship, or monetization. Nonlocal Radio is not a registered broadcaster or media outlet, but an experimental tool for sharing and reflection, as well as part of a broader investigation into the noncentralized nature of artistic practice.

The use of the term radio is both conceptual and political: it refers to the idea of a shared auditory space, one that connects without centralizing. The platform proposes an expanded sense of radio: not as transmission from one point to many, but as a horizontal field of sonic presence and mutual emergence.

As an autonomous, community-defined platform, nonlocal Radio exists outside conventional media structures. We do not operate as a service to the general public, and as such, we are not subject to broadcasting regulation in the legal sense. This page constitutes our self-declaration, making clear the intent, scope, and functioning of the project.
